How do we have better conversations? I was thinking about how we gather knowledge the other day. It might be different for you, but I am a browser; I will scan for headlines that take my fancy, and if they do, I will go deeper. That's why we use snippets. What are snippets? In our newsletter, we have up to 100 little bits of information that might take between 3 and 20 seconds to read, what we call shortform stuff. We screenshot these, aggregate them and present them as snippets to our subscribers daily. The other day, we put up this headline: "EMI at 1751 cents, a 6-year high". There are two things I take away here: Wool is at a 6-year high, and the indicator is 1751 cents. I may not be a Woolgrower, but next time I run into one, I can say that: "Gee, you'd be happy with Wool at over 1700 cents and at a 6-year high". This is how we have better conversations. The Woolgrower might not even know it's a 6-year high, so you are getting them "knowledged up". It's powerful stuff.
The latest writings:
In Ag, we are great at finding the 1 or 2 percenters. But how do we find the game-changing 10 to 20 percenters? They happen.
The virtual fencing craze is taking the Cattle and Dairy industry by storm. We look at where it works and where it doesn't.
There have been two big changes in the Wool industry over the last week. They are positive happenings that could have great outcomes.
Halter, the NZ-based virtual fencing company, just got valued at $2.8 billion after an investment from Peter Thiel. You can't buy that publicity. We explain.
We love it when Farmers open up about their mistakes. Nigel Kerin talks about how it took 9 years to realise he was heading down the wrong Farming track.
How we do governement based big infrastructure in this country is f*#ked. We give a very good example of this.
Is it time to start brainstorming? We explain what an outcome might look like.
One Farmer is remembering the high interest rate/low Grain price times around 1990. He survived it and described it as "a good tune-up"
We talk about the Farm Tender business and how it came out the other side of a cash flow crunch.
Have a great Wednesday, and subscriber to have those better conversations.
