• Ag media is in for an overhaul - I just heard yesterday that the social media company LinkedIn wanted to buy our newsletter platform provider, Beehiiv. That might not mean much to you, but it’s a big pointer that the traditional media is changing right before our eyes. Beehiiv has come from nowhere to be one of the hottest businesses in the world right now, all because of one thing: newsletters. Now, I’m not saying this because we have one, I’m saying this because it’s going to become a huge trend that will supersede the traditional media as we know it. LinkedIn has become a platform for everyday people who write interesting stuff and are carving out an audience. LinkedIn wants to expand because that’s where the gold is. Beehiiv said no to the offer, as they think they have bigger fish to fry. The Ag media is changing, and in 5 years, we predict it will look completely different. Keep watching this space. • The Crop plantings are forecast to be down 10 per cent, and if we can’t get Urea, the yields will suffer. Could we see $600 Wheat and $1200 Canola?

• This year’s budget for a Cropping Farmer is going to look pretty tight. But if Grain prices rise, you might be wildly and, in that case, pleasantly wrong. We elaborate.

• RB Sellers has put store expansion plans on ice. They are absorbing all costs right now, which is eating into margins. It’s an interesting story of what it takes to manage a business in these trying times.
