We study what the best Farmers do - Farming rules matter
One thing we have noticed about the very best Farmers is that they have rules they abide by. When applying these rules, they do so with a sense of calm, a sense of confidence, and in a sense that they have been here before. They have walking rules when everyone else is running, and running rules when everyone else is walking. These rules are hard-wired loosely enough so they can be adapted if needed. Rules are the reason we look at some Farmers and say they know exactly what they are doing. What are some of your Farming rules?
From our latest Agletters:
US Croppers and Row Croppers are struggling to survive, and it’s a bit of a warning shot over the bows for our Cropping industry and how we can avoid the mistakes they are making.
There’s a good story around Spray planes here, but it led to how Drones are being used where it’s too wet for ground Sprayers. These Drones are finding their place in the Spray world.
There’s a meat retail business in our local town that is very unique. I reckon the concept would work elsewhere. It’s a good story from a strong meat industry family, and it’s a well-thought-out retail experience that could scale.
Our guest columnist Michael Bagshaw has been reading extracts from the big Labor party pow-wow in Adelaide last week and relays what he has seen. No pretty.
We wrote about how Farm businesses are different to other mainstream businesses and how they can last over 100 years. It’s common. We explained some of the reasons why, and we also had some very good replies on this subject.
We have identified how Ram Breeder all sorta market the same way, and how Australia’s biggest breeder does it differently and stands out from the pack.
Do something more often, and you will usually get better at it. We write about the more often effect and how it can get you places quicker in Farming.
We write a bit about the gift of the road trip and how we can use it as an educational thing by observing but also listening to podcasts or talking books. But guest columnist Caleb Schwartz used silence and thinking on his latest road trip and came up with some conclusions.
We dawned the Agletter era. We have ditched the crowded newsletter space and decided to recategorise to the Agletter category. We explain.
A couple of our subscribers spent 6 years on an intramuscular fat trial on their Sheep but had to abandon it for one big reason. We explain.
The new trend in Rural building is Shed houses. They are a more cost-effective type outfits. We give a couple of examples of Shed houses.
Guest columnist Michael Bagshaw writes a good article about how in life and in business, not everyone is going to like you. But there still can be mutual respect.
Have a great Wednesday, and subscribe to learn some of those Farming rules we are talking about.
